While we eagerly await fresh news on the injury suffered by young Juraj Slafkovsky over the weekend, a doctor has just spoken out and he has some disturbing words.

"Hopefully not a fractured patella (kneecap) for Slafkovsky as would be multiple months out and could be season ending

I don't really see anything else but at the same time think it's a really minor fall and should be nothing much."

- Dr. Harjas Grewa

It is an increasingly popular and appreciated practice in the sports world, with doctors publicly pronouncing on the injuries of certain players and talking about possible prognoses.

It's seen a lot in the NFL, and clearly, it's becoming more and more common in the hockey world as well.

Generally, these doctors are accurate and they are often right, but you shouldn't think it's an exact science. After all, they're only basing it on the pictures/videos and the information they have, from the outside.

So, we have to hope that it is only "a minor fall and that he is not injured too seriously", but you should know that according to the excellent Dr. Harjas Grewa, there is another possibility that is much more negative.

We will keep you posted.

Slafkovsky, 18, has 10 points (4 goals) in 39 games this season with the Montreal Canadiens.
