On Saturday night, Mathieu Perreault set the Bell Centre ablaze with his three goals during his team's 6-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
One thing is certain, number 85 has never experienced anything like it. The crowd was chanting his name and the arena was about to explode as the fans were on fire.
"It was incredible, the crowd chanting my name, I had chills down my spine. It was an unforgettable night."
He admitted that on a personal level, it was definitely the best night of his career. It certainly wasn't in Winnipeg that fans would have torn their shirts off for Perreault. It's a different atmosphere in Manitoba. And the Drummondville native was really proud to be the first Quebecer since Vincent Damphousse in 1998 to score a hat trick at the Bell Centre.
"It's an incredible experience that I'm taking and keeping with me, I'm making the most of it.
Yes, the victory feels good, but there is still a lot of work to do. The team will head on the road with a nice win in hand, which the CH can build on.
"We're going on the road, we've put one with us, we're keeping the momentum going, it takes points on the road!"
