Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme will certainly have a smile on his face this morning after his team's first win. And that's not the only good news that awaits him before his morning coffee.
Defenseman Joel Edmundson was back in Montreal yesterday morning according to several informants. Ducharme also confirmed the news during his press conference after the game against the Wings.
However, it would be necessary to wait a few weeks before seeing him back on the ice with his teammates. Ducharme hopes that he will join the team's practices after they return from their eight-game road trip to the West Island.
It's a return that will do a lot of good for the Tricolore's defensive squad, which has been struggling through the first five games of the season, giving up a total of 19 goals to their opponents. If the Habs want to get back on track quickly, they will have to give up far fewer goals. A healthy Joel Edmundson will go a long way in helping that cause.
Who do you think will be affected by Joel Edmundson's return? Will it be Sami Niku, Alexander Romanov or Brett Kulak?
