The rumors have calmed down in the last few weeks, but today there is news about a potential future trade involving promising Quebec forward Alexis Lafreniere.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Chicago Blackhawks are desperate to get Alexis Lafreniere in a possible trade involving star forward Patrick Kane.

"Not surprisingly, the Blackhawks want to get Alexis Lafreniere in a trade involving Patrick Kane. They could possibly turn to Kaapo Kakko, depending on the full return, but their target is really Lafreniere."

- Darren Dreger

The rumors sending Kane to New York really weren't started yesterday, but now we have more information as to what the Blackhawks would ask for (in return) from the Rangers.

If the Rangers want to get Kane, it might cost an Alexis Lafreniere. (or Kakko ++)

Would you do it, if you were them?

Kane, 34, has 32 points in 44 games this season, and 92 points in 78 games last season. He will be a free agent this summer (unrestricted free agent).

Obviously, knowing that the Hawks are rebuilding, it would make absolute sense for them to trade him.

Lafreniere, 21, has 22 points in 48 games this season and had 31 points in 79 games last season. His rookie contract expires this summer. He was left out of the lineup a few times this season by his head coach.

More details will follow.
