Without really knowing why, Wright's management has been very controversial, as the Kraken's fourth overall pick has been in the press box more often than on the ice.
Let's just say that criticism is flying everywhere about Seattle's questionable management of its top prospect.
However, number 51 has broken the silence regarding his situation with the Kraken, making a major statement about his future.
While many rumors have mentioned a possible move back to the OHL for him, he wants nothing to do with returning to the minors, even if he has to watch most games on the press box and only has to settle for a few crumbs as playing time when he is in uniform.
Quite honestly, Wright's desire is still very questionable. He has played very few games in the last three years and it is clear that the year he lost to the pandemic has affected his development.
Also, it's not like the former Kingston Frontenacs captain was really dominating the league last year. He had a good season, but he didn't dominate like Connor McDavid or Sidney Crosby did in their draft year.
As my colleague Vincent Fournier of Let's Go Habs mentions, if Wright was submitted to the OHL by the Kraken, he would certainly be good, he would probably dominate, but at least he would play hockey and get a lot of quality playing time.
Which he doesn't right now.
