The opening of training camp is fast approaching and it will certainly be interesting. Besides the fact that we will see the most recent 1st round pick Juraj Slafkovsk in action, there will be an interesting battle among the defensemen.

With the departure of Alexander Romanov, and after veterans David Savard, Joel Edmundson, Mike Matheson and Chris Wideman, there are still spots available. The battle will be between Jordan Harris, Kaiden Guhle, Corey Schueneman and Justin Barron. But don't forget about Sweden's Mattias Norlinder, who could also be a threat.

He played six games in the NHL early in 2021-22 before returning to his country and completing the season in North America with the Laval Rocket in the AHL.

Anthony Martineau of TVA Sports met with an experienced CH scout, and he had nothing but good things to say about the 22-year-old.

A nice surprise! After all, he is still very young, it may seem surprising, but obviously, Mattias Norlinder is still 100% in the organization's plans.

Let's hope that these words are true. With Norlinder at his peak, Kent Hughes will have one more card in his deck to improve his team. He can either retain his services or involve him in a trade to acquire a true goalie, perhaps?
