The Montreal Canadiens have just jumped on the ice at the Bell Centre for their morning practice today, and yesterday's news is confirmed.

Mike Matheson is doing the drills with Joel Edmundson, so it looks like he's really on track to return to the game tonight.

Martin St-Louis refused to confirm it yesterday in a press conference, but unless something goes wrong, Matheson will be back in the game and will be paired with Joel Edmundson against the Philadelphia Flyers.

As for Arber Xhekaj, big turnaround.

We thought we had a clear verdict this morning, but it is not the case. There is a lot of confusion among fans right now, and here is why.

Look at the new pairings this morning, there are some surprising changes and Martin St-Louis just pulled a rabbit out of his hat:

Kovacevic-Xhekaj
Guhle-Savard
Matheson-Edmundston
Harris-Wideman

These are the duos of the day, according to Renaud Lavoie.

So that means this:

- Either Johnatan Kovacevic and Arber Xhekaj will be left out tonight
- Either Jordan Harris and Chris Wideman will be left out tonight

Interesting... Either way, we'll have a big surprise.

Either Arber Xhekaj will finally be in uniform and Jordan Harris will be in the stands, or Chris Wideman will surprisingly be reinserted into the lineup, to the surprise of everyone.

More details to follow!
