We were talking about it a lot yesterday, especially concerning the Montreal Canadiens, but all the teams in the National Hockey League have announced their final roster to start the new season.
Just like the Habs, the Carolina Hurricanes have unveiled their first "official" lineup to start the new campaign, and Jesperi Kotkaniemi's position is getting a lot of attention from fans on social media.
Despite a disappointing 2021-2022 season, Kotkaniemi is probably getting the opportunity of a lifetime.
See the result:
Teravainen - Aho - Jarvis
Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas
Stastny - J. Staal - Fast
Martinook - Drury - Kase
You will notice that KK is at the center of the second trio, with the elite winger Andrei Svechnikov and the excellent Martin Necas.
He will get big minutes with probably the best wingers of his career.
It's risky on the part of the Canes, because he doesn't seem ready for that responsibility, but at the same time, it's a good way to test him. They're trying him out, and if it doesn't work out, Kotkaniemi could lose his job very quickly.
It's make or break for the Finnish center. We could even talk about a defining season for him. It will be interesting to watch.
