When you talk about the top prospects in the Habs organization playing in the junior ranks in Canada this season, Kaiden Guhle and Joshua Roy immediately come to mind. But we shouldn't forget about Riley Kidney.
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan's second round draft pick is having quite a season with 93 points in 61 games and is the sixth leading scorer in the QMJHL this year.
It's been a while since we've seen two Canadiens prospects in the top ten in the QMJHL and who better to talk about Kidney than Quebec's junior hockey expert Stéphane Leroux.
As Vincent Fournier of Danslescoulisses.com reports, Leroux was on the RDS On jase podcast and he went into a rather interesting comparison between Kidney and Nick Suzuki.
Without saying that he will have the same impact as the Habs' number 14, the junior field hockey expert sees a certain similarity between the two players mainly in terms of game vision and intelligence on the ice. And interestingly, Kidney is 5 feet 11 inches tall, exactly the same height as Suzuki.
"Riley Kidney too, he sees the game pretty well. He's pretty much a copy of Nick Suzuki" - Stephane Leroux
It may seem like a big comparison, but let's remember that no one could have predicted that Suzuki would become Suzuki. Talk about the Golden Knights... Leroux is talking about a Nick Suzuki copy here, wow!
It will be interesting to see how he progresses over the years, and who knows, we could eventually find Kidney and Suzuki among the four regular center players for the Habs.
