The Seattle Kraken has just announced that they sent Shane Wright to the AHL:

"He's not playing anymore, so he's being sent to the American league. Shane Wright will also likely play for Team Canada at the World Junior Championship." - Renaud Lavoie

Considering Wright was scratched from the lineup for five straight games, he became officially eligible for a two-week conditioning stint in the AHL with Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The Kraken decided to take advantage of this exception.

So we expect Wright to play in the AHL for two weeks before heading to the World Junior Hockey Championship in December.

So we expect him to represent Canada.

Is a return to the OHL after this tournament a possibility? That will obviously be something to watch, but it continues to get a lot of attention.

In seven games this season, the fourth overall pick in the last draft had only one assist.

Remember that at the beginning of the season, Kraken general manager Ron Francis had mentioned that Wright would spend the entire season in the NHL.

Obviously, there has been a big change in plans.
