While more and more observers are looking for the next number one goalie for the Montreal Canadiens, there is one prospect who already belongs to the organization and who just raised his hand.

Obviously, we can't forget about Cayden Primeau, Joe Vrbetic and Frederick Dichow, but Jakub Dobes seems to be special.

As reported by my colleague Christian Matte (Marqueur.com) the man who earned the honor of the top goaltender in the Big-10, in the NCAA, finished the year with a 21-12-2 record and an absolutely staggering .934 efficiency rate.

His progression is astounding and he is thinking big:

"I have faith in Montreal and what they want to do. I have a feeling I'm going to stay another year in Ohio, but you never know. If they want to sign me to go to the pros, I'm ready." - Jakub Dobes

So Dobes could land in Montreal, for training camp, in September 2022 or 2023 and many experts are thinking big for him.

If Dobes lands in the pros soon and makes as good a transition as a guy like Jeremy Swayman of the Bruins (they have similar stats in the NCAA), well, the picture in front of the net for the Tricolore could get very interesting.

Listening to the young goalie Dobes, he seems ready, confident and very strong mentally. So far, considering his draft rank (136th overall), he has the makings of a steal and if we were to start the 2020 auction over again, he'd be out much sooner than that.

Do you think he could be the Montreal Canadiens' goalie of the future?
