In the last few hours, we have had fresh news about the Montreal Canadiens' first overall pick, Juraj Slafkovsky, as he announced his verdict for the WJC:
"The main goal (for Juraj) is to play in the NHL starting in October. He needs 6-8 weeks of summer training. For this reason, he will skip the World Junior Championship in Edmonton. He will arrive in Montreal in the middle of August." - Tomas Prokop
Interesting! So please note that Slafkovsky will be in town in a few weeks (mid-August) and will not be competing in the World Junior Championship.
It's a shame for the fans and obviously, very shameful for Slovakia, but if it's desirable for the Montreal Canadiens, then so much the better! That's really what's important, in the end.
In your opinion, should Slafkovsky start the season with the Montreal Canadiens, with the Laval Rocket or in junior?
