Could a trade be made, in this sense, between the CH and the Edmonton Oilers? The question is worth asking, but the answer seems to be getting closer.
According to David Ettedgui, at the time of the acquisition of Josh Anderson (from the Columbus Blue Jackets, for Max Domi and a third round pick), another player was possibly targeted by the Montreal Canadiens: Jesse Puljujarvi.
According to Ettedgui, the Habs did want to add a big winger, and Anderson and Puljujarvi were the two big targets.
As you know, of course, Montreal eventually opted for Josh Anderson, who has since done the organization proud.
Still, it's interesting to know that the CH has already shown serious interest in Puljujarvi (even if it's now under new management).
It also confirms several information we have, including this one:
Between Puljujarvi and Anderson, the choice has already been made by Montreal and it is the right one. We keep Anderson.
However, for a Mike Hoffman or a Mattias Norlinder (or both), could the Habs come back and finally get their hands on the two wingers they coveted in 2020? Stay tuned!
