In the last few days, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced the hiring of Stéphane Robidas as a new assistant coach.
He will be assisting Martin St-Louis and will be in charge of the defensemen. The current Habs head coach, St-Louis, was very happy with the addition:
"I consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to add a candidate of Stephane's caliber to our coaching group. His experience as a player in the National Hockey League and the breadth of his hockey background will prove to be an asset to the development of our players. Stéphane fits exactly the profile we were looking for. He is a very good communicator, and I believe that many players will be able to recognize themselves in him because of his vast experience."
He's not the only one who thinks this is a great move for the organization. As Charles-Alexis Brisebois (DansLesCoulisses.com) reports, former Robidas teammate and former Dallas Stars defenseman Trevor Daley considers the Habs' new assistant coach to be a solid mentor.
"I was young when I came to Dallas and Robidas really helped me. Both on and off the ice, he took me under his wing and I've never forgotten him."
- Trevor Daley
Daley also believes Robidas is a great team player, he never puts himself above others and always thinks of the team first. For him there is absolutely no doubt: Robidas is a golden person, very pleasant to be around, he is excellent with the youngsters, and the Habs will come out of this very winning. A truly remarkable testimony.
"The Canadiens have hit a big home run with this hire."
