As my colleague Keven Mawn (Fanadiens.com) reports, in his piece, Leblanc reveals an important piece of information.
We already knew that Trevor Timmins' replacement with the Habs for the 2022 draft in Montreal is technically Martin Lapointe. He was already with the CH, but he took on greater responsibilities following the dismissal of Timmins and Marc Bergevin.
We also knew that the Habs recently hired Nick Bobrov, who is very close to Hughes and Gorton, to help in that department.
Well according to the information of the journalist of RDS, it would be Bobrov who would have the most influence with the decision makers of the Habs.
The 2022 draft would therefore be more in the hands of Bobrov (rather than Lapointe). The replacement of Trevor Timmins, in the end, could well be: Nick Bobrov.
Remember that on February 18, the Montreal Canadiens organization officially announced the hiring of Bobrov as co-director of amateur recruiting.
Bobrov was, for six years, the director of the European draft with the New York Rangers (with Jeff Gorton), a position he also held with the Boston Bruins between 2001 and 2006. Here you go.
See what Eric Leblanc says here:
Really interesting.
So all indications are that the "real" replacement for Trevor Timmins would be Bobrov, but Bobrov is very well assisted by Martin Lapointe. That's promising, in view of the many important selections the Habs will have to make, in a month.
