According to the latest information disclosed by insider Randy Timmins, the Carolina Hurricanes and the New Jersey Devils are currently interested in the services of forward Tomas Tatar. Remember that the contract of the latter was not renewed by the Montreal Canadiens.

The Hurricanes could add a quality forward to their already strong group, they already have Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen. They certainly want to get the necessary elements to make a good run in the playoffs. But is Tomas Tatar really the answer? The left winger is not known as an impact forward when it comes to playing more competitive hockey.

The Devils, on the other hand, are looking to add some veterans to their young core, including Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier. The Devils are bound to give other teams headaches next season, having just improved with their most recent major acquisition in Dougie Hamilton. They will be fighting for a playoff spot.

Tatar would obviously have a choice. He would get much less ice time in Carolina than he would in New Jersey, considering the quality of the Hurricanes' wingers. However, he would have a chance to go far in the playoffs, as the Canes could be considered a contender in the near future. With the Devils, it would be the other way around, he would get considerable ice time, but he might not get a chance to play in the playoffs.

The chance to compete for a Stanley Cup or more quality ice time? Which will he choose?
