Insider Elliotte Friedman gave an interesting update on Hockey Night in Canada last night on ongoing trade talks for Kent Hughes. The least we can say is that it is heating up.

Injured (lower body) last weekend, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot could return this afternoon against the New York Islanders, but it would be an unnecessary risk. Imagine if he hurts himself more seriously.

Will he be traded by then? Very excited to see!

During his 32 Thoughts segment on Sportsnet, Elliotte Friedman mentioned that a lot is happening regarding Chiarot on the trade market right now (especially last night). Things are heating up!

Friedman adds that the St. Louis Blues, who were also playing in the evening yesterday, are very interested in acquiring defenseman Chiarot.

We also learned that they are willing to trade a first-round pick for a player like Chiarot. On the side of their best prospects, they have: Klim Kostin, offensive defenseman Scott Perunovich, goalie Joel Hofer, forward Zachary Bolduc and forward Jake Neighbors.

«I heard there was a lot going on. St. Louis is one of the teams playing tonight and are very interested in Chiarot,» Friedman said.

A trade seems imminent.

What would you ask the Blues, for Chiarot?
