Many asked us the question, and now we have the answer.
Like us, many of you were asking the following question: where does tonight's monster ovation, in honor of the great Guy Lafleur, fit into the history of the Montreal Canadiens?
The excellent John Lu (TSN) has the answer:
"Marc Dumont and I were trying to figure out where tonight's monster ovation in honor of Guy Lafleur ranks among the Montreal Canadiens' all-time ovations. Here is the answer...
Rocket Richard at the closing of the Forum: 16 minutes
Guy Lafleur's tribute tonight: 10-11 minutes #GuyGuy
Saku Koivu's return from cancer: 9 minutes" - John Lu
Wow, that says a lot! We have truly experienced a magical, beautiful and also, historic moment.
There is more, according to Marc Dumont, the official length of the ovation is absolutely incredible:
"The ovation was officially timed at 10min10 by our operations team. Which is about as perfect as it gets for #10.
Thank you, Mr. Lafleur.#GuyGuyGuy" - Marc Dumont
I have chills.
