There's a lot of activity today for the Montreal Canadiens, just a few days before their famous annual golf tournament.
As we reported earlier this morning, general manager Kent Hughes announced some much anticipated news:
Kirby Dach is finally signed! However, this signing puts the Canadiens in a situation where they must absolutely move, in order to respect the NHL salary cap rules (even during the off-season)
"Don't forget that the Canadiens are allowed to go over the offseason salary cap at any time, as long as they're back under it by 5 p.m. the same day." - Marco D'Amico
So an announcement was to be expected, and Arpon Basu just confirmed it:
It will happen today for Carey Price!
For those who still had hope for the start of the season, we can officially forget about it. The goalie will be placed (not surprisingly) on the long-term injury list today.
