Yanni Gourde managed to play his first game last Tuesday, and then his second was in the Seattle Kraken's opening game on Saturday night. So far, this group of players is working hard, but chemistry is still slow to develop, hence this record of one win and five losses (one of which was in overtime).
That record is easily explained, however, according to Gourde. The former Tampa Bay Lightning forward is fully aware, as are all of his teammates, of the club's main shortcoming.
"We still have to get used to playing together, to understand how the players with us on the ice will react. It's a work in progress. We're going to get more and more familiar with each other!" - Gourde
He's 100% right. On the other hand, despite such an atrocious record, the team is the city's team as the residents proudly walk around with the Kraken colors. Gourde also emphasized how well the team takes care of its players.
"The team management has put so much emphasis on us coming in and being well prepared. Since we've been in town, the organization has been A++. It's really amazing what we're experiencing!" - Gourde
The Kraken is still as motivated as ever despite this negative record.
