Among the surprises of the Canadiens' last training camp was certainly the name of forward Michael Pezzetta. Initially known as an agitator, the 23-year-old had made eyes wide open with his fire and ability to stand out in front of the opposing net.

Now back with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League, he is one of the key pieces of the Rocket's excellent start to the season, which ranks second in its division with three wins in four games. With four points, including a goal, in four games, Pezzetta has been one of his team's best players and has contributed to the team's success with every game he has played, as evidenced by his +7 rating.

On Saturday night, in the Rocket's 4-0 win over the Providence Bruins, Pezzetta once again delivered a complete performance with an assist, three shots on goal, a fight, and outstanding shorthanded work.

Drafted in the sixth round (160th overall) by the CH in 2016, Pezzetta is showing a huge progression from last season, during which he had five points (two goals) in 20 games. The Rocket's number 23 is typically the type of player that is appreciated by his coaches, and his work ethic could, in my opinion, earn him a first call-up to the National Hockey League in the very near future.

Even though the Tricolore's performance yesterday was much more convincing than in the previous five games, I believe that the addition of a player as feisty and hard-working as Pezzetta would not hurt Dominique Ducharme's team.
