Canadiens Confirm Serious Long-Term Injury Within the Organization
Another long-term injury has been announced within the Montreal Canadiens organization, and it removes a call-up option for Kent Hughes.
Young forward Xavier Simoneau, sidelined with an upper-body injury, will miss nearly two months, a significant loss for the Laval Rocket.
It's also unfortunate for him, as this injury comes at the worst possible time.
A long term injury for Xavier Simoneau
This is what has just been announced by the Laval Rocket.
Knowing that we're already in February, or almost, we realize that this injury will keep Simoneau off the ice until mid-March, so his season doesn't seem to be over, but let's say it will be quite a challenge for him to come back at that point.
Simoneau is the kind of player that's so easy to love as a fan because he works incredibly hard and truly seems to be the real deal.
At 23 years old, Xavier Simoneau is a 5-foot-7, 178-pound Quebec-born forward.
He was a 6th-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2021 and has accumulated 15 points in 38 games this season with the Laval Rocket (72 penalty minutes).
Last season, he recorded a solid 37 points in 53 games, with 111 penalty minutes.
«The Rocket announces a 4 to 6-week absence for Xavier Simoneau. This will open an opportunity for Alex Beaucage, recalled from Trois-Rivières this week. Suddenly, the depth of the Habs organization is being tested.

A story to follow for the Habs' farm team.
