We're obviously talking about the transaction that sent young Rutger McGroarty to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
As we continue to analyze this trade, we learn that it surprisingly has a direct impact on the young forward in the Montreal Canadiens organization, Michael Hage.
Hage, a 21st overall pick by the Canadiens in 2024, will play for the University of Michigan in the NCAA during the upcoming year.
Indeed, just minutes after the trade, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they had signed McGroarty.
This marks the end of his NCAA career, and it's thanks to this trade because McGroarty wasn't going to sign with the Winnipeg Jets.
His graduation to the professional ranks has completely opened the door for Michael Hage at the University of Michigan.
This will allow him to have a much more offensive role and will give him the opportunity to accumulate even more points.
According to some experts, the trade (and signing) of Rutger McGroarty to Pittsburgh will allow Michael Hage to take a spot on the top line and on the first power play unit at Michigan.
We love it!
Hage, 18 years old, 6 feet 1 inch, and 190 pounds, tallied 75 points in 54 games last season with the Chicago Steel.
We are really excited to see what the future holds for him.
