Kent Hughes and the Canadiens hit another home run on offense
A true steal in the offense has just been confirmed for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
We know that the Canadiens have drafted many players over the past few years, which increases the chances of finding hidden gems, and it seems that Kent Hughes has managed to find one with his 6th-round pick in 2023.
We're talking about young forward Filip Eriksson.

Several experts are already calling this a steal, particularly because if the 2023 draft were to be redone, Eriksson would be drafted much higher than in the sixth round.
This 6th-round pick for the Canadiens is now probably worth a 2nd-round pick, or even a late 1st-round pick!
Eriksson, who is only 19 years old, had an entirely unexpected season in Sweden in 2023-24, scoring 24 points in 21 games immediately after being selected by Montreal.
At the same age and in the same league, he was more productive than names like William Karlsson, Filip Forsberg, Noah Ostlund, Liam Ohgren, Jesper Bratt, and Jonathan Lekkerimaki (all of whom are 1st-round picks or solid NHL players).
We are not saying that young Eriksson will be a Filip Forsberg or a Jesper Bratt, but clearly, we can say that (for a 6th-round pick) Kent Hughes has made quite a find.
It will be really interesting to see what comes next for young Eriksson, and he is definitely a name to watch.
