As you may already know, a recent report is currently circulating in Vancouver and throughout the NHL about a possible conflict between two Canucks star forwards.
Knowing that there is a significant conflict between Pettersson and J.T. Miller, we can predict how this will end.
There will inevitably be a trade at some point.
What if Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens took advantage of the situation?
This is interesting because the proposal comes directly from a former executive of the NHL.
Here is his exact proposal:
This is intriguing.
If it were your decision and you were in Kent Hughes' position, would you accept this offer?
The Canadiens would trade the two roommates (Caufield and Dvorak) + David Savard in exchange for the best player in the trade, in my opinion, who is also a center.
Pettersson, 26 years old, has accumulated 28 points in 34 games this season, after posting 89 points and 102 points in the last two campaigns.
He earns $11.6 million per year until 2032.
Caufield, 23 years old, has 32 points in 34 games this season, after recording 65 points and 36 points (in 46 games) in the last two seasons.
Montreal's top-six forward lines would be lethal with a one-two punch of Suzuki and Pettersson down the middle if a trade of this magnitude were to happen.
Laine - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Dach - Pettersson - Demidov
While very unlikely, the fact that it was proposed by a former NHL executive makes it worth analyzing.
