At a press conference earlier today, to review his 2024 trade deadline, General Manager Kent Hughes revealed several very interesting pieces of information.

Among them is this:

Kent Hughes received calls for other players including at least one young player!

But he also revealed that he received calls for trades involving other players from his team. David Savard? Arber Xhekaj? Jordan Harris? Joel Armia? Tanner Pearson? Josh Anderson? These are all strong possibilities, according to some sources.

We would have liked to be behind the scenes to know exactly what was discussed today, but we imagine these are discussions that could be picked up at the draft.

Trevor Zegras is mentioned in passing.

However, even though the Canadiens listened to offers for other players, the offers were clearly not enough.

"We received calls for other players, but we indicated that we were not interested in trading them, for the most part. We still stated that we were ready to listen to offers, but the offers never came." - Kent Hughes

Via Anthony Martineau, from TVA Sports:

I believe we can be satisfied with the work of Kent Hughes, especially following the trade of Jake Allen and the acquisition of the first-round pick, Jacob Perreault. (whom we really like)

We should expect the Canadiens' GM to be active again at the reopening of the trade market, as he did with Kirby Dach as well as with Alex Newhook.

He himself mentioned that he was a seller at the trade deadline, but he will definitely be a buyer at the draft. He will try to acquire young talents.

To be continued in a few weeks/months, then!
