Martin St-Louis leaves no doubt and reveals the Canadiens' best player today
The Montreal Canadiens held their first intra-squad games of the 2024 training camp today, with Martin St-Louis watching closely.
A few names stood out, with Lane Hutson's name once again on everyone's lips. Young Oliver Kapanen was undoubtedly the revelation of the day, but the best player on the ice was obvious.
There is absolutely no doubt, Juraj Slafkovsky was the best player on the Montreal Canadiens today
This bodes well for the coming weeks!
According to most experts, Slafkovsky was in a class of his own today, and he is light-years ahead of the player he was at this same time last year.
"There was no doubt about who was the best player on the ice during this first game: Juraj Slafkovsky."
- Eric Engels, Sportsnet journalist assigned to Montreal Canadiens coverage
We love reading that!
For those who want detailed analysis of various players' performances, we recommend the excellent work of Anthony Martineau and Anthony Marcotte.
Juraj Slafkovsky is in outstanding form. He was the best player on the line with Suzuki and Caufield today. A force of nature. We saw him push around the giant Vincent Arseneau without much effort. I expect a strong start to the season from him.
-Anthony Marcotte
Juraj Slafkovsky seems to be in outstanding form. Big, fast, sharp, confident. His line with Caufield and Suzuki hasn't lost any of its chemistry.
- Anthony Martineau
It's clear that Juraj Slafkovsky was extremely dominant-offensively, defensively, and physically.
I have a feeling this player is going to be something special!
Slafkovsky, only 20 years old, racked up 50 points in 82 games last season, but most impressively, he collected 34 points in his last 39 games.
A 70-75 point season definitely seems realistic for Juraj in 2024-2025.
