NHL Makes Minor Correction Regarding the Game Between the Canadiens and Rangers
The NHL issues a correction following the Canadiens-Rangers game.
As highlighted by journalist Marc Antoine Godin, the NHL has made a correction after the game between the Canadiens and the Rangers.
While the penalty remains completely ridiculous, it's at least a bit more logical.
During the sequence in question, which occurred earlier today at Madison Square Garden..
A four-minute penalty was originally assessed to defenseman Arber Xhekaj, who had done absolutely nothing wrong (especially compared to other players involved in the scrum).
A correction to the game sheet involving Arber Xhekaj
The double minor for roughing was ultimately assigned to Juraj Slafkovsky, which is still absurd but slightly more logical.
Let's just say the officials didn't have their best game of the season.
In the middle of the scrum, it was a double minor for roughing against Arber Xhekaj that gave the Rangers a power play late in the second period.
I later saw that it was actually Slaf who got the 4 minutes, and the NHL eventually corrected it. So, I'm doing the same.

It's a real shame, as the penalties significantly hurt Martin St. Louis' squad today against the New York Rangers, and the officiating certainly didn't help the Canadiens' cause.
«Joel Armia stated that he thought he had been hooked on the Rangers' game-winning goal. However, he added that the Canadiens' penalty kill wasn't strong enough in this game.»
Eric Engels, Sportsnet The team has no reason to be ashamed of its performance against the Rangers.
What about you? What did you think of the officiating today? Do you think Montreal deserved a better outcome?
The Canadiens are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM at TD Garden against the Boston Bruins.
Cayden Primeau is expected to start in net for the second game in just over 48 hours.
Stay tuned for more details.
