The Montreal Canadiens are not doing well at the moment, and unfortunately, things are not going well for forward Patrik Laine either. Once again today, against the Tampa Bay Lightning, his performance was closely scrutinized by experts and journalists, and some of his actions were widely criticized.

We can point to his very bad penalty in the first period, which cost the Canadiens a valuable power play opportunity.

«Raddysh was already penalized for his action against Laine when No. 92 decided to hold onto his stick.

Not great.»

- Anthony Martineau, TVA Sports

But that's not all.

A Frustrated Gesture from Patrik Laine on the Canadiens' Bench

More and more, the Finnish forward is showing his frustration on the Canadiens' bench-hitting the boards, and his body language says it all.

Let's remember that he was demoted to the fourth line by Martin St-Louis and is barely playing at 5-on-5.

And this didn't just happen once:

«A frustrated Patrik Laine slams his stick on the boards after heading to the bench following this shift.»

- Stu Cowan

Let's really hope that things turn around for Laine.

I would be so happy to see him regain his confidence and scoring touch, as that could change everything for the Montreal Canadiens and Martin St-Louis.

A strong performance at the Four Nations Faceoff could really benefit Laine, so we will be keeping a close eye on that.

Patrik Laine, 26 years old, has 18 points in 27 games this season, including 12 goals, but he has been struggling over the past few weeks.
