We know that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are seriously starting to get active on the NHL trade market. This has been confirmed by several insiders, including the excellent Pierre LeBrun, and we are beginning to see concrete signs that something is brewing here.

The Washington Capitals, who have been very interested in acquiring Jake Evans for a while now (as you probably already know), sent two representatives to the Bell Centre for last night's game against the New Jersey Devils.

According to some indications, the same scenario happened today for the matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Well, well, this is very interesting.

Another clue about a possible trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals involving Jake Evans

Clearly, Canadiens players are attracting interest from other teams.

«2 scouts from LA, 2 scouts from WSH.

Two teams interested in Jake Evans.»

Yes, you also noticed the presence of two representatives from the Los Angeles Kings, including a certain Marc Bergevin.

However, it's unclear if they will be back today.

«Several scouts in the press box at the Bell Centre for this afternoon's game between the Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils.»

- Stu Cowan

This is a situation to watch, but things are finally heating up ahead of the trade deadline and the roster freeze for the Four Nations Face-Off.

Jake Evans, 28, has accumulated 27 points in 55 games this season, and on top of that, he is increasingly establishing himself as one of the best defensive forwards in the entire NHL, particularly in penalty-killing situations.

If Kent Hughes ever trades him, I hope it's for a big return, even though his contract expires at the end of the season.
