As you know, we consider young Matvei Michkov to be the only hope that can rival the phenomenon Connor Bedard, in terms of talent and potential, and you know we really want the Montreal Canadiens to draft him.
It could change everything.
As we reported to you yesterday, a major piece of information surfaced that the Columbus Blue Jackets are likely to ignore Michkov in the draft, as they are probably drafting before the Habs.
Columbus would much prefer Will Smith. Anyway, there's more!
According to the information from the highly reputable Aaron Portzline, as reported by Tony Marinaro in his podcast, here is the major news that is circulating,
Aaron Portzline says that if Columbus actually drafts fourth overall, they will select Will Smith (and not Matvei Michkov). And if the Canadiens then draft, the Canadiens will select Matvei Michkov.
And he adds that the one who has a big say in the player the Habs will draft in June, Nick Bobrov, loves Michkov so much that he would (privately) call him the European Connor Bedard.
Wow! That would be a dream scenario and yes, even without winning the lottery, the Montreal Canadiens could land a generational talent.
It has to happen! (if the Habs lose the lottery) Let's really hope that the Blue Jackets don't win the lottery and that this materializes.
In any case, it's huge to learn here that the Habs love Michkov. It's a big turnaround from some of the rumors that were circulating.
