Following their 6-2 victory against the Panthers on Sunday, the Boston Bruins now lead the series 3-1. And this, without the presence of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
Jim Montgomery's team has not finished impressing observers, but it is also about to please the Canadiens fans.
Why? Simply because if the Panthers are eliminated in the first two rounds, their first-round pick will be 17th overall.
It could be settled as early as tomorrow!
It is needless to remind that this pick was obtained by Kent Hughes in the trade that sent Ben Chiarot to Florida!
On the other hand, if by some miracle, the Panthers manage to come back and make it to the semifinals, the second first-round pick of the Habs would become the 29th overall. Ouch!
For once, the Bruins, who are the sworn enemy of the Canadiens, will be able to count on the support of Montreal fans.
After all, two picks in the top 17 (including one in the top 7) is something to take during a rebuilding process, isn't it? Much more than a 29th pick.
Also note that the Panthers 1st round pick belonging to CH will officially be the 17th overall if FLA gets knocked out in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
For Ben Chiarot, it's not bad!
