It comes at the perfect time.
Let's just talk about Hoffman here.
This last one is a bit of an unpopular player since his signing as a free agent in the summer of 2021 but he has 13 points in his last 14 games.
Without having a great season, the number 68 is probably living his best moments since his arrival in Montreal and as we know, his name has been circulating a lot in the trade rumors lately.
While some experts agree that Kent Hughes would not get much in return for his services, his recent production could change the game with just over two weeks to go before the NHL trade deadline.
Some rumors have started to circulate that Hoffman could finally, against all odds, have some value and interest some clubs.
He could really be traded this week.
A rumor that is being confirmed
On that note, it looks like there might be some news in the Mike Hoffman case.
The rumor is getting confirmed! As reported by Nicolas Desrosiers of Marqueur.com, tipster David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period mentioned on TSN 690 on Monday that discussions could indeed be taking place soon between Kent Hughes and some teams regarding a possible trade involving Mike Hoffman.
There would be interest in the NHL, and it promises. The Nino Niederreiter transaction concluded in the last few hours, could help. (2nd round pick in return)
This is from David Pagnotta:
Also according to Pagnotta, the Seattle Kraken, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights are teams that could be interested in the Habs' number 68.
We love it!
While we thought that Hoffman's value was not very good just a few weeks ago, his recent performances could potentially allow Kent Hughes to pass him on to another team, without any salary consequences.
Hoffman still has another year left on his contract at an annual salary of $4.5 million.
If we can receive a draft pick, and give a lot of flexibility under the salary cap, by trading Hoffman, that would be solid!
