While some rumors are founded, others can sometimes be completely unrealistic, and it's always interesting to share them with you anyway.
As reported by Cédrick Gervais, from the site Marqueur.com, the Twitter account of Hockey Night in Montreal proposed a trade suggestion between the Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs but I warn you right now, it's a bit absurd.
Here it is:
To Montreal
Mitch Marner
To Toronto
-The Panthers' first-round pick (31st or 32nd)
-The Flames' first-round pick next year
- The Canadiens' second-round pick (37th)
- Josh Anderson
- Jordan Harris
- Joel Edmundson
Okay, the chances of this happening are as great as a sudden comeback of Jan Bulis!
But more seriously, one has to wonder what will be the plan of the Leafs' new GM, Brad Treliving, regarding his famous Big Four consisting of Marner, John Tavares, William Nylander, and Auston Matthews.
Both will be unrestricted free agents next summer while Marner and Tavares have only two years left on their contracts. Treliving therefore finds himself in a tricky situation as Matthews, Marner, and Nylander may possibly request a salary increase during their next negotiations.
But the question we must ask ourselves is, which of these four forwards could the Leafs afford to let go?
Although they finally managed to get past the first round this year, several issues will be at the heart of the discussions among Maple Leafs fans during the offseason and the arrival of a new direction could impact some difficult decisions to come.
