We just had a surprise on NHL waivers in the last few minutes, as despite his recent performances, the Columbus Blue Jackets have just placed the name of goaltender Spencer Martin on waivers.

This could shake up the goalie market and have an impact on Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, who are trying to sell a goalie.

Spencer Martin on waivers!

He has already been claimed earlier this season, so don't be surprised if he is claimed again, this time by a team like the New Jersey Devils or the Edmonton Oilers,

Martin, 28 years old, is a Canadian goalie who stands 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 191 pounds. He was a 3rd round pick in 2013 by the Colorado Avalanche and he has played 13 games this season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In the AHL, in his last 40 starts, he has a 2.43 GAA and a .916 save percentage. (26 wins and 11 losses)

Do you believe he will be claimed? Kent Hughes must certainly hope not.

Imagine he is about to agree with a team on a trade involving Jake Allen, and that team decides to simply pick up Martin for free.

Anyway, we will have the answer tomorrow at 2 pm. Case to follow!
