While we can officially say at last that the NHL Draft is less than a month away, in the meantime, Montreal Canadiens fans are preparing and entertaining themselves as best they can.

One of the most popular ways and the one we get asked about the most, is to try and put ourselves in the shoes of General Manager Kent Hughes to evaluate trade proposals.

Following Canada's victory at the 2023 Worlds, and following Samuel Montembeault's brilliant performance, the latter continues to prove that he has great potential as an NHL goalie.

However, many continue to believe that another promising young (future) goalie would be needed to complement Montembeault.

It is in this spirit that the following proposal has surfaced.

A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the St-Louis Blues?

Hockey Night In Montreal brought up the following proposal, which incidentally (lo and behold) involves Montembeault's partner at the most recent World Championship with Team Canada.

We're talking here about goalie Joel Hofer, but that's not all.

TO MONTREAL:
- Joel Hofer
- The 10th overall pick this year

TO ST-LOUIS:
- The Panthers' first round pick (31st or 32nd)
- The Flames' first round pick next year
- The 37th overall pick this year
- A third-round pick

What do you think?

Hofer, a 22-year-old goalie, had some good moments in the NHL this season. He earned 3 wins, one loss, and one overtime loss, while maintaining a save percentage of .905.

In the AHL, for Hofer, we're talking about a record of 27-15-5, an average of 2.50, and a save percentage of .922.

Would you make the trade?
