Despite his small size, the player selected in the second round in 2022, with the pick obtained in the transaction that sent Brett Kulak to Edmonton, raised many eyebrows this season at Boston University in the NCAA.
His impressive collection of 48 points in 39 games even earned him a nomination for the Hobey Baker Trophy, and some Canadiens fans already see him in the Habs uniform in the near future.
However, as reported by Félix Forget of the Danslescoulisses.com website, a reputable informant made a quite interesting statement that Hutson is not necessarily untouchable in Montreal, even though he is one of the organization's top prospects.
In his latest column on the Sportsnet website, Eric Engels mentioned that Kent Hughes may be able to trade his young prospect to complete a deal during the summer and that he would not be untouchable within the organization.
But rest assured, Engels also said that he would be extremely surprised to see Hutson involved in a possible trade because, in his opinion, it is still too early to have a clear and precise evaluation of the young defenseman.
It is true that it is still far too early to speculate on Lane Hutson's potential with the Canadiens, but it must be admitted that it is good to see such a prospect within the organization.
