Let's remember that they are actively seeking to acquire a goaltender, and on the other side, the Habs have a goaltender to trade. (Cayden Primeau or Jake Allen)
The solution to settle the trio situation with the Montreal Canadiens?
The renowned insider Elliotte Friedman, from Sportsnet, has given very interesting information regarding the NHL goaltender market.
He mentioned that the Canadiens are "sellers" of goaltenders (unsurprisingly) and that the Hurricanes are "buyers" of goaltenders.
However, he goes a bit further.
He reveals that, according to his sources, the Hurricanes would offer forward Michael Bunting in a deal for a goaltender.
If the Hurricanes target Allen (or Primeau), then Bunting would evidently be the player offered to Kent Hughes.
A situation to closely follow.
Bunting, 28 years old, has accumulated a solid 151 points (65 goals) in 223 career NHL games, including 25 points in 36 games this season in Carolina.
He also racked up 50 points and 103 penalty minutes last season in Toronto.
