However, he has been more active in the trade market and as reported by Keven Mawn, from GoNordiques.com, an observer proposed two personnel moves that could please the Canadiens' fans.
Via his Twitter account, Randy Timmins, no relation here with Trevor by the way, suggested this to Kent Hughes:
Just to be clear here, this is a suggestion, not a founded rumor, but let's take a look at it.
As we know, the Capitals are trying by all means to get rid of the giant-sized forward who hasn't had much success since his arrival in Washington.
He only had 27 points in 67 games in 2022-2023 and he will be in his last contract year in 2023-2024 with a salary of $5.7 million.
On his side, Maxime Comtois did not receive a qualifying offer from the Anaheim Ducks and is now an unrestricted free agent.
Kent Hughes may have been tempted to offer him a contract, but this option seems unlikely to me because the top 6 forward positions in the Canadiens are pretty much pre-determined and I don't see a forward like Comtois evolving on a third or fourth line.
That said, I won't dwell too long on Christian Dvorak as it is clear that Kent Hughes tried everything to trade him but due to his contract, it is rather difficult to negotiate.
Even though this is a suggestion from an observer and not founded rumours, we still ask you the question.
