A Brand New Role About to Be Announced for Mike Hoffman with the Montreal Canadiens?
As the summer season is in full swing in the NHL, the Canadiens organization is preparing for the 2023-2024 season.
However, there will be some decisions more difficult than others to make and as reported by Samuel Doiron, from the site Habsolumentfan.com, it could well be that a forward is demoted to the American league.
According to Ryan Szporer of the site The Hockey Writers, Mike Hoffman would be the ideal candidate to end up with the Laval Rocket.
There is one season left on his contract and if Kent Hughes ever put his name on waivers, the Canadiens could deduct his salary of 4.5 million, for the next season.
This would be an easy solution to subtract money from the payroll and, as we know, there will be a surplus of forwards in the lineup at the start of the season.
In two seasons in Montreal, he has only scored 29 goals and collected 69 points in 134 games, and he was somewhat invisible some nights, to the chagrin of Canadiens fans.
But as 2023-2024 will be his last contract year and it is increasingly obvious that he is no longer part of Kent Hughes' plans, CH fans will only have to endure number 68 for one more season.
