As part of the show La Poche Bleue at noon and as reported by the TVA Sports network, Guillaume Latendresse made an interesting statement.

According to him, Kent Hughes should conclude a trade to acquire a young goalie as early as this summer.

He even mentions a name:

"I would be more inclined to go after a 21 or 22-year-old goaltender through a trade. There's Yaroslav Askarov, from Nashville, or Devon Levi, who we've heard several rumors about. There are many young goalies. That's the direction I would take with the Canadiens." - Latendresse

We completely agree with him on this point.

An Askarov-Montembeault duo could be extremely interesting.

As for the price to pay, we imagine that the 1st round pick 2023 from the Florida Panthers must absolutely be included, but that won't be enough.

What would you add on top?

Personally, we would offer this, and we believe it could tempt the Preds.

To Montreal
-Yaroslav Askarov
-4th round pick

To Nashville
-Panthers' 1st round pick 2023
-Habs' 2nd round pick 2023
-Cayden Primeau

Remember, Askarov has huge potential, he is only 20 years old and he stands 6 feet 3 inches tall.

The 11th overall pick of the Preds in 2020 is stuck behind Juuse Saros and could thus be available on the trade market.
