After making the playoffs last year, Roy's squad is struggling this season, and the New York team is having difficulty finding the back of the net.
As reported by the site HABSolumentFan, changes are necessary within the organization, and a journalist shared some information on this subject.
According to journalist Jim Biringer, who published an article on the site RG.org, a source revealed that changes are coming this season if things don't improve, and it could start with Lou Lamoriello.
The Islanders' late-season push last year gave Lamoriello some breathing room, but if the team continues to struggle, changes may become necessary.
Furthermore, according to Biringer, if the Islanders end up in seller mode by the trade deadline, forward Brock Nelson's name will be one to watch.
Nelson has had seasons of 37, 36, and 34 goals over the past three campaigns and has already tallied 20 points in 34 games this year.
The 33-year-old veteran is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and it's likely he'll be one of the most sought-after players by then.
Naturally, the question arises: could Nelson be a target for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens? He is undoubtedly an excellent forward, reliable, and a veteran presence. However, I believe the Canadiens' priorities lie elsewhere for now.
It remains a possibility since Nelson is clearly available.. but I'm unsure how interested Hughes would be in this type of trade.
This is a story to follow.
