The Pittsburgh Penguins have just completed a trade.
As they have officially announced, the Penguins traded their 2025 second-round pick and 2026 fifth-round pick to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick and a 2025 third-round pick.
This may seem like a strange (and pointless) trade, especially in the middle of August, but there is a reason behind it.
The Blues Are Preparing to Make an Offer Sheet!
According to several sources, the St. Louis Blues are indeed preparing to make an two offer sheets, and this trade with the Penguins will allow them to position themselves to do so.
They have sent offer sheets to two players, Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg.
Kyle Dubas has just handed the keys to Blues GM Doug Armstrong to submit his offer sheet.
"The Penguins have acquired a 2026 second-round draft pick and a 2025 third-round draft pick."

Things are stirring in St. Louis.
Details will follow, and this is a big story to watch.
