MAJOR: Patrick Roy reportedly received two offers to return to the NHL and we have the details
My colleague Alex Desrosiers, from Info LNH, published a very interesting exclusive news concerning the great Patrick Roy.
There's a lot of talk about his possible return behind a bench in the National Hockey League, especially with the Ottawa Senators, but we mustn't forget that there are several other potential destinations for him!
Major: Patrick Roy reportedly declined two offers to return to the NHL, but in the West
This comes from the excellent Ray Cloutier, sports columnist at FM93 in Quebec (COGECO) and commentator for the Remparts games.
Ray spent a day with Patrick in Florida, and he confided that the former #33 indeed declined these opportunities notably to enjoy a break.
It also seemed to me that it was impossible that absolutely no NHL team had called him.
See his comments:
"Traveling in the West is much more difficult than in the East. [...] In Denver, there was a time difference very, very often. Over time, for traveling, he had already told me this and I think it's one of the reasons why it interests him less. As you get older, these little details become important in your eyes, in your decisions, I believe."
- Ray Cloutier
Travels to the West are more demanding than to the East, the time difference also affects Roy's decision. He experienced it when he was with the Avalanche, in Denver, and he knows that it's a significant issue.
