It's rare for this to happen nowadays, but a player is now available for free, and it's a defenseman from the Colorado Avalanche.
A few seconds after recalling young Ben Meyers, the Avalanche management placed Brad Hunt on waivers.
Hunt, 34 years old, is a purely offensive defenseman. He has 21 points in 24 games this season with the Eagles and 8 points with the Avalanche.
In his career, he has a fairly solid 84 points in 284 NHL games.
Teams have until tomorrow, 2 PM, to acquire him absolutely for free.
Hunt has only played 24 games in the American Hockey League since 2016 (versus 263 games in the NHL). He has always managed to find a spot as a 6th offensive defenseman capable of playing on the power play.
He will get his answer tomorrow.
Do you believe he will be claimed?
