While the Colorado Avalanche already seem to have their two regular goaltenders, in Alexandar Georgiev and Pavel Francouz, they have just caused a surprise by claiming the great goaltender Jonas Johansson, who was placed on waivers yesterday by the Arizona Coyotes.
It will be interesting to see what happens next. Does the Avalanche general manager have an idea in mind? Is one of the Colorado goalies injured? We'll have the answer soon, but know that they made a surprise claim and that Jonas Johansson is now an Avalanche goalie.
Johansson, 27, is 6-foot-5 (220 pounds) and has 32 career NHL games. He has maintained a goals-against-average of 3.42 and a save percentage of 0.883%. He had a few good seasons in the AHL as well as in Sweden's top league.
His time with the Coyotes organization was (very) short lived.
Please also note that three other players are placed on waivers as of today:
More details to follow!
