To help fans get to know one of the Montreal Canadiens' good prospects who is flying under the radar, Eyes On The Prize has just posted a video of goalie Frederik Dichow.
To learn more about the giant-sized goalie, Patrik Bexell and Dylan Waugh offered their analysis and it's quite interesting.
They believe that Dichow is very talented, but he needs to gain some muscle mass and speed.
Here are Dylan Waugh's comments:
"I think he's surrounded by great people who are going to be able to get the best out of him, but it will be all or nothing in his case. He'll either become a great goalie in the NHL, or he'll just never play in the NHL. He has so much talent, but it's a matter of using it well." -Dylan Waugh
To give us an idea of Dichow's great potential, Waugh compared the young CH goalie to Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, no less.
"I think the comparison to Andrei Vasilevskiy is pretty good. I'm not saying that Dichow is the next Vasilevskiy since a lot of things have to happen for that to happen. But he has all the tools he needs to establish himself in the NHL. He's really going to have to work on his weaknesses or he's going to look very bad." - Dylan Waugh
He's not saying Dichow is the next Vasilevskiy, but in terms of goaltending style and potential (if all the stars align perfectly), the comparison may be a good one, he says.
Dichow played 28 games last season with IK Kristianstads and maintained a 2.27 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
He will play for Frolunda HC next season (in Sweden's top league) and the Canadiens have until August 2025 to sign him.
A name to watch. The fifth round pick could become a steal of the draft, if he develops to his potential.
