Now that Joel Edmundson has been traded by the Montreal Canadiens to the Washington Capitals, the spotlight is now on Mike Hoffman.

With congestion on the attack and the emergence of several youngsters, many experts really believe that Hoffman needs to go.

The problem is there was no interest from other teams for a trade, but that could well be changing.

Journalist Dean Blundell just put forward a possible trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Chicago Blackhawks, involving Hoffman.

"Chicago has a cap space of nearly 18 million dollars for only 19 players, which allows them to absorb the entire contract.... at a fair price."

He also adds that Kent Hughes has plenty of draft picks and young players to afford such a trade.

Here is a realistic trade:

TO MONTREAL:

- Future considerations
- 4.5 M$ freed up on the payroll

TO CHICAGO:

- Mike Hoffman
- 3rd round pick 2024 from the Wild

Would you do it?

It would make room for the young one and it would send a strong message for the team culture.
