Marc Bergevin has obviously been very busy over the past week, having decided to let Jesperi Kotkaniemi leave for Carolina. In addition, last night, he acquired the services of center Christian Dvorak from the Arizona Coyotes, in order to replace KK. The latter has not been idle.
The 56-year-old has been with the Montreal team since 2012. He has also led the Habs to the playoffs on six occasions since his arrival at the head of the organization.
How ironic... A lot of people were saying that if the Tricolore lost in the first round to the Maple Leafs, Marc Bergevin would have been fired... However, he saved himself from the ejector seat, thanks to the prowess of Carey Price, in particular, and some luck. The Tricolore were trailing in the series 3-1 and finally advanced to the next round in 7 games. Then, the Habs had an incredible run by sweeping the Winnipeg Jets in the second round, before beating the Golden Knights in six games to reach the Stanley Cup final. The Quebec team lost in the final to the mighty Tampa Bay Lightning, however, it was likely enough to keep Marc Bergevin in his job.
Marc Bergevin has made some big moves with the Habs, mostly by way of trade, since he arrived in Montreal. Regardless, Geoff Molson seems happy with what his general manager brings to the table, even if he has had a lot of misses as well...
