Jesperi Kotkaniemi delivered a positive speech on his Instagram account, but was it to look good? At first glance, I would say no, unequivocally, but after reading his responses to reporters, a doubt settled in the back of my brain. He said he accepted the hostile offer because he wanted to be a part of this team.

The future Canes winger, because that's where he'll likely be transplanted, relied on the word "confidence" to describe his feelings about his new team. Is this to indicate that he didn't feel that confidence when he was putting on a Montreal Canadiens jersey?

He also said that the management of his development could have been better with the Montreal Canadiens. This is a statement that directly shoots down the Montreal team. On the other hand, he specified that nobody was to blame...

Regarding the hostile offer, Kotkaniemi said that he and Marc Bergevin had a discussion about it during the week. KK must have been aware of Marc Bergevin's plan before the official announcement.

All in all, KK was no longer interested in playing for the CH and the team no longer seemed to want to continue its mission with the 21-year-old, as they no longer seemed to believe in him as much as the Canes do.

In closing, KK teased a bit about the $20 signing bonus he received (or will receive): "I told my mom I was going to give her that for her Christmas present."
